Ear candling or ‘coning’ is an ancient process that has been performed over many centuries. The ancient Egyptians used reeds coated with wax to perform this technique. The American Indians used hollow twigs or glazed clay with herbs and incense to perform ear coning. The South Americans used ear cones made from rolled-up newspaper that was waxed and scented with incense to cleanse the ear canal and heal the sinuses. Ear coning was also used to open the spiritual centers of the body, cleansing the spiritual body through the physical body. Ear candling is a wonderfully relaxing, non-invasive treatment that benefits the ear canal and the sinus and nasal passages. It can be used to stimulate blood flow, relieve pressure in the ear, stimulate the lymphatic system, relieve headaches and allergies, sinusitis and tinnitus. Students in this class will learn the history of ear candling, candling safety, how the candles work, hands-on candling and contra-indications. Ear candling is easy to do! Materials required: 2 pair of paraffin wax ear candles, a cheap pair of scissors and a 9-inch aluminum pie plate. |
